Implementing Frequency Selective Fading for OPNET's Wireless LAN Modules

چکیده
In OFDM-based IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs, adapting the modulation type per sub-carrier to the frequency selectivity of the wireless channel leads to significant performance improvements. To integrate adaptive modulation into IEEE 802.11a/g networks, some minor modifications to the standard are needed in order to acquire the subcarrier gains and signalize the modulation assignments (on a per-packet basis), amongst others. However, to implement adaptive modulation in OPNET some changes have to be performed at the physical layer processing to include a frequency selective fading profile and to accurately compute packet error events based on the frequencyselective channel profile. We take an analytical approach for this and demonstrate a much more precise packet error behavior than with standard OPNET modules.

Time-Varying Frequency Fading Channel Tracking In OFDM-PLNC System, Using Kalman Filter
Physical-layer network coding (PLNC) has the ability to drastically improve the throughput of multi-source wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on the problem of channel tracking in a Decode-and-Forward (DF) OFDM PLNC system. We proposed a Kalman Filter-based algorithm for tracking the frequency/time fading channel in this system. Tracking of the channel is performed in the t...

Channel estimation is one of the key technologies in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems, which has received more and more consideration. A modified Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) is proposed and simulated by MATLAB over a frequency-selective fading channel. Comparing with the conventional MMSE, this algorithm has the advantage of low complexity. Meanwhile, it shows litt...

IEEE 802.11ad is an enhancement to the IEEE 802.11 family standard, that enables multi-gigabyte wireless communication in 60 GHz. In this paper, we propose a unique pilot design and corresponding channel estimation method for a frequency selective fading 60 GHz channel. It is shown that in our proposed channel estimation the number of pilot subcarrier are fixed in one OFDM symbol, but the pilot...

The surge in demand for methods to transmit large amounts of data over wireless channel has led to recent interest in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The time dispersive and frequency-selective nature of the wireless channel, causes intersymbol interference (ISI) and fading to be a serious impediment in wireless communication. OFDM has shown to be effective at combating frequ...
